One Ambassador Closes, Another Opens

I had an interesting e-mail conversation a couple of hours ago that I thought I’d share with you all.

To Me

Hi Mik,

Thank you for your application to be a Samsung ambassador, we’re delighted to let you know that you have been chosen!

We will be in contact soon with more information on how we’ll get things started.

Many thanks, and we look forward to getting to know you!

Best wishes,
Matt

My Reply

Oh wow, thanks for this message. You’ve made my day. I just need to ask something before I go getting my hopes up though. Is this the Omnia Ambassador program?

To Me Again

Hi Mik,
Yes this is for the 18910 HD Samsung Ambassadors challenge πŸ™‚

We’ll send you through more details soon!

Have a great bank holiday weekend.
Matt

Wondering what I’m talking about? Well the Samsung Omnia HD recently got renamed as the i8910 HD. In fact, it was only a week or so after I applied to be part of the ambassador’s program (which would allow me to own and test the phone itself before it’s even released) for it that it got renamed.

In case you still haven’t figured it out yet, I just got told there’s gonna be a brand new state-of-the-art phone in the mail to me sometime soon as long as I have no problem boring you guys to tears with every little detail about it (something I’d do anyway). Thanks everyone for your support in this. Looks like it paid off eh?

  1. I understood most of that. :yikes: Get me more phone reviews in different languages and I'll bet I'll suddenly be bilingual *triple checks he hasn't said "bisexual"* in no time.Good phone, but you might want to check if the battery life will be okay for you. I didn't see if they said anything about that.

  2. Wow you lucky sun of a gun. My room mate had the first omnia. And it was a great hardware phone but that windows mobile was never designed for a finger touch phone. I hated it. So i can only imagine how good this hd will be with much improved hardware and symbian. It's something i'll kill for. I know you are now supposed to be samsung's walking commercial but what is your thought on the nokia 5800. I'm thinking of getting it tomorow free on a upgrade.

  3. for you. Congratulations Mik. "for it that it got renamed." for? You get to keep this new phone, that's great. πŸ™‚

  4. Not to interject, but, Nico Zandberg – the 5800 is the phone I'm thinking of getting. Mik showed me the details on it a while back, and suffice to say, I want. But I'm gonna research it a helluva lot before I commit.

  5. I had to send a review of my current phone in as part of my application for this, and I didn't fail to point out some of the problems with it. Samsung's walking advert or not anything I post about the phone, good or bad, will be true in my experience and I don't pull any punches. In fact, there's been a conversation here before about how Samsung aren't really a man's phone manufacturer, specialising in things that are business or girl oriented. It was a couple of years ago but I'm glad the people who ran this didn't find it. It's a good job they didn't find this either. :insane:.As for the 5800, I was in drool mode over that a few months back myself. She's a beautiful phone and with the recent update to v21 firmware she's past most of the original bugs and problems that were included in the original release. The problem is, you'll be getting it as an upgrade, which means a contract, which means a network provider's custom firmware. Those aren't as regularly or as easily updated to the next firmware release. Research it on your network before you make the choice.Carol – I meant the "ambassador program for it" but the bracketed comment splits the sentence. The whole thing could still turn out to be a mistake or someone's warped idea of a joke, but I hope not. It made my day anyway, feeling like this page was worth something, if only for a little while. We'll see soon enough.

  6. Well, the name change was actually to the i8910 not the 18910 which is making me wonder a bit. It could easily be a typo or someone reading i as 1, but my paranoia's kicked in over it.Fingers, toes and a couple of other extremities are crossed though. πŸ˜†

  7. πŸ˜† I've just got to wait for further contact now. It was simpler in the old days. You just got sent a phone, filled in a questionnaire and either kept it or sent it back, depending on the briefing. The market's become diluted since then though and everyone buys anything that's out there.I think I'll force myself to bed now before I start rambling about the price of a can of coke these days. :left:

  8. I'm happy that they are legit. Hope it won't take long or else you will be to tired when it comes. πŸ™‚

  9. I've just checked out the company that sent me the e-mail and they seem legit. Worked for Microsoft's Halo promotions legit.I think the excitement hit late because now I can't sleep. πŸ˜†

  10. It says battery is Li-Ion 880 mAh, standby time 300 hours, talk time 3.5 hours. More than enough for me, but I don`t think I would buy it. First, I need to change a computer, I hope it will happen in a month or so. Then, depending on situation, I may start to think of buying something like this. What do you think? It still costs 500 eur in Serbia but in time it will go down, hopefully.

  11. I'll be honest. I'm not really a fan of HTC phones, mostly because they usually rely on Windows Mobile as an OS. It's growing up though. Getting better to use.

  12. Thanks Mik and Spaggyj for your inputs on the 5800. And yes i already did lot's of reading up on it and info from my service provider. Just wanted to get a last bit of advice from someone in the know. Just ordered it :). It's out of stock in south africa at the moment but i got assured i'll have it before the 15th can't wait!

  13. You do  . Once, I licked Mik's shirt in two places, outside at Grum's house so when she saw him it'd look like he'd been lactating :left:

  14. Congrats Mik. :hat: *giggles* Is it safe to say yer excited? @ Kimmie licking the shirt… πŸ˜›
