  2. My Not Serious answers (the serious ones are in a whisper):1) You see three naked people walking down the street you live on, but they're not breaking any law by being naked. Why?Because all the bloody dogs that live on my street have jumped over the fences of their yards as they do all the bloody time, rotten-arse things, and torn their genitals off, thus helping them circumvent 'lewd conduct' charges. Technically.2) A drowned man has never been to hospital and is leading a pretty healthy life. How is this possible?Because he's Aquaman!3) The first couple shown in the same bed on television have a daughter on the show. What is her name?Captain Snooze.4) America is perceived as one of the richest countries in the world but one thing prints more money every day than the US treasury. What is it?The Russian Mafia.5) Why is Ohio both the 17th and the 47th US state?Retardation?6) Who invented the lightbulb? Some bright spark.7) What is the largest living thing on the planet? One of my testicles.8) Napoleon, Louis XVI and Henry III were all French leaders who had a common phobia. 3. 1) You see three naked people walking down the street you live on, but they're not breaking any law by being naked. Why?In reality, I suspect it's something to do with the letter of the law and the difference between being naked and engaging in 'lewd conduct'. Either that or they're the victims of sexual assault of some description and are staggering down the road in shock. Or I live in a country that allows street-based nudity, though you said my street, so I'm taking that literally. 2) A drowned man has never been to hospital and is leading a pretty healthy life. How is this possible?Someone at the scene performed CPR and where he lived (and drowned) was so far out in the sticks that going to the city for a doctor was out of the question.3) The first couple shown in the same bed on television have a daughter on the show. What is her name?I thought it was a son? Oh, well.4) America is perceived as one of the richest countries in the world but one thing prints more money every day than the US treasury. What is it?Hmm … tricky. Wall Street deals in billions and billions of dollars of play money based on speculations and suchlike (well, thast's how I see it) … but you said 'prints', so I'm stuck there …5) Why is Ohio both the 17th and the 47th US state? Can't answer this one fairly because I looked it up on Wikipedia.6) Who invented the lightbulb?Edison. At least, his was considered the best out of the 22 people who invented it before him/were working on it at the time.7) What is the largest living thing on the planet?I believe it's an underground fungus, but I can't recall where it is. 8) Napoleon, Louis XVI and Henry III were all French leaders who had a common phobia. What was it?I need to watch more shows with Tony Robinson in them, I really do.9) I can see a rainbow on my right hand side, a cloud slightly left of that and the sun slightly right of the rainbow. What am I doing?Drugs? No, hang on, this is supposed to be the serious answers. I don't know. But I think it has something to do with mirrors.10) Which country sells the largest amount of frog's legs?America. Pretty sure it's America. For export, though. Mostly.

  9. The answers…1) Despite the common misconception, the word "naked" merely means unprotected. Had they been "nude" then they wouldn't be wearing any clothes.2) The act of drowning means taking water into ones lungs. I did actually have some money aside for a prize before that happened. :irked: On the up side I do have a crusty tissue shaped like a trophy. :left:

  12. Congratulations anyway. You did a good job expanding your knowledge to include things over 99% of people don't know. That's better than any prize I could've given anyway (although I may still have something up my sleeve so watch your inbox). :coffee: And thanks to everyone that took part, the answers were highly amusing in some places, terrifying in others.*glances worriedly in David's direction*

  14. :faint:.that's one BIG mushroom!!! :eyes:.Thomas Edison improved the lightbulb and made it practical. In his experiments, he discovered the 'Edison effect" where a heated wire in a vacuum emits electrons. although Edison never found a use for the 'Edison effect', it became the basis of the vacuum tube that was the main building block of early electronics. Thomas Edison did, however, invent the first gramaphone recorder. However, his design used a cylinder made of tin that resulted in recorded sounds having a high frequency component that became known as 'tinny'. hence, we now refer to sound equipment that has a poor bass response and excess high frequency response as sounding tinny. The grammaphone was later improved by Alexander Graham Bell. Alexander Graham bell invented the telephone. Ironically, he was trying to create a device to enable deaf people to hear. (both his mother and his sister were deaf.)So he actually went on to invent the one thing that deaf people could not use. (at the time).((please excuse the spelling mistakes, I'm a little tired and confused right now! :p))
